Couran Cove is situated on South Stradbroke Island, Gold Coast and was once a premier ecotourism destination for permanent residents, tourists and business delegates. Electricity, water, sewage and gas services were all suddenly turned off. The Gold Coast Public Health Unit, Department of Environment and Science and City of Gold Coast Environmental Health team worked in collaboration to assess the risks to public health and the environment. This included - potable water supply, general water supply, waste water treatment, ground water contamination, mosquito breeding, food safety and rental accommodation.
