In January 2023 one of the most impactful wet season events cause widespread flooding to the small town and communities within Fitzroy Crossing and along the river. The incident damaged countless homes and cause major damage to the main bridge providing access to the down and supply chains throughout the district. A rapid EH response team was assembled to assist conduct rapid damage assessments of homes and essential services. This paper examines the challenges faced and the process of coordinating the response and early stages of the recovery.
