Description

Asbestos can be a highly emotive issue that can quickly escalate and cause public alarm, and therefore it is important that Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) develop effective messages to prevent or respond to asbestos exposure. The key information to communicate in preventive and responsive scenarios is different. This presentation will provide an overview of the guidance that the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency has developed to help EHOs overcome the challenges involved in communicating about asbestos risks and to remove variations in public information, which often create barriers to achieving good public health outcomes.
