Aboriginal peoples in Australia have known the links between human health, animal health and the environment for millenia. Environmental factors contribute to significant levels of illnesses in Aboriginal communities, many of which are preventable. The Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia and the State Department of Health are co-designing an Aboriginal Environmental Health Model of Care as a direct outcome of a commissioned independent review of Aboriginal Environmental Health Programs in 2022. This presentation will share our experiences in bringing stakeholders together to co-design this model of care to focus on prevention, service expansion and health outcomes.
