Description

Laser tattoo removal is increasing. Tattoo removal works by breaking pigments into smaller particles, which are then transported away from the skin. Laser treatments were carried out on tattoo pigments and inks in the laboratory. Hazardous, carcinogenic particles were identified, as were a variety of fragmentation patterns, morphologies, and particle sizes that may pose health risks. In addition, the research showed why some pigments are difficult to remove, and it was also found that the ink composition differed from what was described on the bottles. This raises concerns about the regulation, health impacts, and degradation products of tattoo inks.
