An in depth discussion of the most effective ways to gather and record evidence, the admissibility of evidence and potential risks.

Topics include:

  • Investigation techniques;
  • Interviewing offenders;
  • Admissibility of documents and photographs;
  • Giving of formal notices; and
  • Powers of entry.

Presenter:

Peter is one of Perth's leading local government lawyers. He has particular expertise in local government law enforcement and has carried out numerous prosecutions for local governments under the full range of legislation administered and enforced by local governments. Peter has appeared as Counsel in the Magistrates Court, State Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court. Many of the Supreme Court appeals against sentences conducted by Peter have since become the leading cases in relation to sentencing for local government offences in WA. Peter frequently prepares papers and presents seminars to local government in relation to the enforcement of local government legislation and the processes necessary to make local government law enforcement more efficient and effective.
